Rhetorical Analysis of Girl Scout Organization


In 2009, the nearly 100 year old Girl Scout organization underwent a major rebranding campaign. Being a lifelong member of Girl Scouts and having worked at a local council for 8 years, I was very curious about exploring the visual and programmatic changes of the organization. I conducted a rhetorical analysis of their materials, from books to badges and uniforms to cookies, to examine the various aspects of the program and what ties them all together.
