I led a group to design and create website content for the Nuestros Cuentros program at Michigan State University. The program partners college students with local middle school students, primarily of Hispanic or Indigenous heritage, and invites them to write their stories. The website is a space where parents, students, and community members can learn about the program, engage with participants, and tell their own stories. My contributions to the project included overall layout and design, choosing photographs, and creating content. An important aspect of the site creation was the decision to not subordinate the Spanish language, which we accomplished by placing Spanish text before English text.
I write regularly for AwesomeMitten.com, a website devoted to food, drink, travel, and events around Michigan. The website receives 400,000 unique visitors a year, and over 30,000 unique visitors a month. An initial article written during a travel writing class landed me an invitation to continue writing for the website.
